Hello Standley 8th Grade Families!

This is Principal Bill Pearson calling to let you know about your end of year activities.  We will be hosting a drive through Promotion Parade at Standley to celebrate your finish to Middle School.  During this drive through you will drop off school owned materials like books and instruments then pick up your promotion certificate along with any awards and/or honor cords received.  A photo opportunity with the principal is available and staff will be present to say goodbye, music will be playing, and celebration signs will be posted.  Students will receive a program for the Virtual Promotion scheduled on the 15th and have the opportunity to sign the Middle School Class of 2021 Poster.  Families, we need your help to celebrate them while remaining safe during the COVID crisis.  Here are the details:

When: June 11th organized by last name to maintain traffic safety.

            A-L     9-11

            M-Z     11-1

Students will check in with their 4th period teacher for attendance.

What to Bring:  Bring all textbooks and library books (clean and mark free) along with any school issued music instruments.  Tape your name to the outside of the instrument case.   Bring a paper with your name and ID written on it to hand to the staff whether dropping off books or not.  Students will keep their computers unless they are leaving SDUSD.

What to Do:  Decorate your car to celebrate your promotion.  Decorated cars may be highlighted in the virtual promotion ceremony.  You will attend during your scheduled time and enter the main parking lot near the office off of Radcliffe Drive.  You will then turn into the school campus on the lunch court to drive by the library.  You will hand your identification paper to staff and give them your books.  You will then proceed past the library and around the building to sign the Class of 2021 Poster.  You will then drive back toward the exit gate located near the locker rooms.  On the way out you will stop to walk the red carpet and receive your promotion certificates/awards and take a picture with Mr. Pearson.   Families exit the gate, turn left, and exit campus back on Radcliffe Drive.  This is a one-way drive through, and we ask everyone follows the route.  DO NOT PARK AND WALK ONTO CAMPUS.  If you arrive by public transit, or do not own a car, please enter the gate near the office and a staff member will escort you through the parade.  Please maintain appropriate social distance and everyone must wear a mask.  Only students may exit the vehicle.

  • One car per student
  • Only household members in the car
  • Masks must be worn on campus in or out of a car
  • Maintain appropriate social distance
  • Only Students may get out of the car

How to Help: We want to celebrate students while staying safe and taking care of end of year items.  Families may choose to help with signs, banners, balloons, etc. by bringing them pre-made to campus on Thursday, June 10th, from 8-10 a.m. to drop off in the main office.  We will place them around campus prior to student arrival.

As we adapt to the happenings of the world around us we can still take time to celebrate and enjoy the moment.  Thank you for your continued patience and flexibility as we attempt to close out the year to the best of our ability.  Your help in following these guidelines to support our students is greatly appreciated.
